31/42 - Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld

Image
14th September 2019 Ground Number: 31 Ground: Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernaukd Home of: Clyde FC Match: Clyde V Stanraer Score: 6-1 Attendance: 753 Well what a match. Just like that Broadwood takes the "highest scoring match" crown from Sheilfield Park which, up til now, had held that particular record! We will get to this amazing match soon I promise but first let's talk about Broadwood itself. This ground is incredibly easy to find with easy access from the M80 and is signposted clearly. You couldn't fail to find it. There is ample free parking right at the ground and that, in our opinion, is always a bonus. Once parked up we had a wander and the club were kind enough to let us inside the main entrance to get a photo by the club badge. We even bumped into Danny Lennon but surely even he couldn't have predicted the match to come! As we were paying cash we were required to buy tickets from a small booth just to the left of the stadium ent

30/42 - Fir Park, Motherwell

31st August 2019 Ground Number: 30 Ground: Fir Park, Motherwell Home of: Motherwell FC Match: Motherwell V Hibs Score: 3-0 Attendance: 5964 Into the thirties we go and today we were back seeing some Premiership action as we took in this brilliant match at Fir Park, home to Motherwell FC. The club have been playing here since 1895 and as such there's a real mix of the old and the new here but we'll get to that soon. First, despite all the planning in the world, you just cant plan for horrific traffic! It was a real challenge reaching Fir Park and it soon became clear we were going to miss kick off. I don't know about you but I really HATE missing kick off! I love the build up to a game and the atmosphere etc. In the end we decided just to drive directly towards the ground and chance our luck to see how close we could get parked. Our luck was very much in it would appear as we got park right at the ground. Here's the view from our parking space! P

29/42 - Galabank Stadium, Annan

Image
17th August 2019 Ground Number: 29 Ground: Galabank Stadium, Annan Home of: Annan Athletic FC Match: Annan Athletic V Albion Rovers Score: 3-2 Attendance: 449 Ground 29 saw us visit southern Scotland and the charming town of Annan to take in Galabank Stadium, home of Annan Athletic FC. Football has been played at this ground since 1953 but you wouldn't be able to tell as it's an impressively modern looking football ground. We aimed for the official club car park on arrival as encouraged to do so by signs close to the ground however it was full when we arrived so local street parking it was just a few minutes walk away from the ground. We arrived at the ground just as the game was kicking off and the Annan PA system is loud. And I do mean LOUD! The neighbours here most definitely know when the teams are emerging let me tell you. Into the ground we go then (after the obligatory selfie of course) and £12.00 entry is the adult price here. Very reasonable we tho

28/42 - Easter Road, Edinburgh

Image
20th July 2019 Ground Number: 28 Ground: Easter Road, Edinburgh Home of: Hibernian FC Match: Hibernian V Alloa Score: 2-0 Attendance: 5544 Our first match of the 2019/20 season would take us back to the Scottish capital to tick off our final ground in Edinburgh. This time we're at Easter Road, home of Hibernian FC.  New work commitments are playing havoc with our ground touring schedule but we're determined to get it done this season so although the updates may be less frequent stick with us as we get through this quest!  David had scouted where to park in advance and, although he went the scenic route, we found free on street parking about a 10 minute walk from the ground. Easter Road is one of these grounds where you have  to buy a ticket in advance. No cash gates here. So, off we go to the Club Shop to buy tickets and, of course, a pin badge! The Club Shop can be found below the Famous Five Stand and, it must be said, is an impressive affair.

27/42 - Rugby Park, Kilmarnock

Image
11th May 2019 Ground Number: 27 Ground: Rugby Park, Kilmarnock Home of: Kilmarnock FC Match: Kilmarnock V Hibs Score: 1-0 Attendance: 7484 Due to work commitments it's taken longer than it should have to write our review of Rugby Park. I'm doing so on the morning of the Premiership Play Off Final which, of course, Dundee United are involved in again. So today will be either a really good day or a really bad day. Time will tell! Rugby Park then became our final ground of this season. A very productive season I feel. 19 grounds covered, 48 goals witnessed and 2153 miles driven. It's been another great season in Scottish football and it felt appropriate to end it with a club who've had a record breaking season thanks, in part, to a fabulous manager who sadly has since departed to become manager of the Scottish national team. I do, of course, speak about Steve Clarke and the remarkable impact he's had on Kilmarnock. Due to the feel good factor a

26/42 - Cliftonhill Stadium, Coatbridge

4th May 2019 Ground Number: 26 Ground: Cliftonhill Stadium Home of: Albion Rovers FC Match: Albion Rovers v Annan Athletic Score: 0-2 Attendance: 274 Hello again. It's been a while. Sorry about that. Work, holidays, other commitments. Life getting in the way basically! At the weekend however we were back on the road and it was to visit ground number 26 on our little world tour of Scottish football. Does it get any sexier than Cliftonhill in Coatbridge? Well yes, yes it does actually. "The Reigart Stadium", as Cliftonhill is currently known, is celebrating 100 years as the home of Albion Rovers this year and whilst is does have it's own unique charm it does also look  100 years old in places! We found the ground with no issues and found free street parking very close by. Obligatory photos taken we were into the ground for the sum of £13 each. You've got two choices when you enter through Cliftonhill's solitary turnstile. Turn left or tur
