233. No, not some strange football formation. The number of hardy souls present at Central Park in Cowdenbeath today. And do you know what? I tip my hat to every single one of them. These are the real supporters of Scottish football. They could go anywhere each Saturday (much like we do in fact!) but instead they choose to come here. To this place. Good for them.

Ground number 5 then. Into the Kingdom of Fife we go. Relatively speaking it's one of the shorter trips for us and it was a pleasant drive. There isn't much to say about Cowdenbeath itself really. There's nothing particularly memorable about it. We found the ground easily enough and there was a nice free (hello Livingston!) car park right next to the main entrance. Happy days.

This was a pretty meaningless end of season match for both clubs. Cowdenbeath knew they'd take part in the relegation play off whereas Annan didn't have much to play for at all really. Anyway, £12 each is the order of the day here and we are into Central Park just like that. We see the Club Shop / shipping container immediately and we are eager to get our hands on the Blue Brazil pin badge. Alas, it's not to be. It's the last day of the season and they've sold out. Ebay it is then and Ebay it was!

Central Park then. It's certainly a strange one but it definitely has its own unique charm. There's two stands right next to each other. The more modern of the two housed the home supporters and today at least the old one adjacent housed the travelling Annan fans. Around the rest of the ground there is terracing behind the fencing which protects the fans from the stock car track which surrounds the pitch. No really! There are tires everywhere, crash barriers, a starting grid, lights. I've never seen anything like it!

Pin badge-less we make our way to our seats and we had plenty to pick from so we settle up near the back of the stand and, despite some safety netting, we have a decent view. The "action" is soon underway and, I'll be honest, it's not a thing of beauty but hey they're trying to there's that. Two very early goals put Annan ahead and with that the rest of the game is a procession really. Annan looking forward to their summer break and Cowdenbeath protecting against injuries or suspensions for their upcoming play off match.

Half time and that means food! So off we go to the food kiosk and, sorry Cowdenbeath, but it was a horror show. The pie here, well neither David or I are sure what was actually in it. It wasn't pleasant. As for my cup of Cola, well it wasn't the official branded stuff. Rola Cola anyone? All in all a poor catering experience and David is being generous awarding the Cowdenbeath pie 2/10.  Plus points for them not being fussed where smokers smoke though!

The second half brought our second red card of the tour when Annan were reduced to 10 men and the only other excitement to note was when the stock cars turned up and loudly revved their engines behind the stand! We didn't hang around for the evening races though.

And with that ground number 5 was complete. A really unique one and certainly memorable. A second away victory on the bounce - it's 3-2 to the home teams if you're keeping score. Cowdenbeath would go on to secure their league status and Annan, well i'm sure we'll see them again one day when we get down to the borders. Those 233 fans though...well done you lot! Well done.
