Ah Tannadice then. We've been here many many times before. We know the place well and, yes, we love the place. But tonight we're on official duty. This is the "official visit" as part of the 42! And what a match we've picked. It's the excitement of the play offs and both clubs are looking to reach the next round after the first leg finished goalless.

Not much of journey tonight then and David got parked close to the stadium and yes once again parking was free. I need to get over this Livingston thing but i'm not quite *there* yet! £20 was the ticket price and we decided to sit in the upper tier of the George Fox stand for this one. Tannadice offers various options for home fans. The more vociferous fans tend to migrate to the Eddie Thompson stand which is located behind one goal. The George Fox stand runs the length of the pitch and, in our opinion, offers the best views in the ground. Opposite you have the Jerry Kerr stand, occasionally used by home fans and the Jim McLean Fair Play Stand which tonight is housing the away fans. Behind the other goal is The Shed which these days is also used by away fans. Everyone clear on everything? Ok good, let's get to the shop for a pin badge.

Success! The club shop have pin badges and it's more of a relief than anything else! It was becoming a real chore! £3 by the way. Bargain. We walk from the shop around the stadium to the George Fox Stand and we feel that "magic." That special something that fills the air on match day outside a football ground.  We're into the ground no bother and make our way upstairs to our seats. Maybe we are biased (we are!) but it is a cracking view.

The match begins and it's frantic stuff. There's a lot at stake tonight. Dunfermline are on top early doors and there's a real feeling United are going to bottle this! Big crowd, big stakes, typical United! Right on cue Dunfermline deservedly take the lead. It would remain that way til half time and the large travelling support would enjoy their half time pie!

Would we though? Well yes actually we would. Whether we are used to the grub here or it is actually alright is anyone's guess. Maybe it was because it followed that awful Cowdenbeath pie! Who knows but the pie was fine. Nothing special. Not horrendous. Fine.

The second half and hallelujah United are going to make a game of it. A few tactical tweaks there and a few substitutions there and the game turns on its head. United lead 2-1! Csaba Lazlo is a genius.....

Dunfermline threw everything at it the last 10 minutes or so and, despite a bizarre injury to the goalkeeper, Dundee United held on for a precious victory. Well precious until Livingston would gub them in the next round a week later but let's not go there!

On a good day (and today was a good day) Tannadice can be rocking. For a low key league match it can be a soulless place. It's one of those grounds where the fans are close to the pitch and close to each other and can make for a great atmosphere but with the club struggling of late it's not often we see and hear that Tannadice these days.

Tonight we did though and it was a great night. We love the place, it's our home ground and it always will be.
